SCHAGHTICOKE FIRST NATIONS, INC.

Schaghticoke First Nations, Inc. is an Indigenous led 501c3 organization that serves the interest of the Tribal entity, Schaghticoke First Nations, an Indigenous Peoples whose homelands extend through the Hudson and Harlem Valley regions in New York and beyond. Several Schaghticoke First Nations Tribal Council Members serve on the board of Schaghticoke First Nations, Inc. While interconnected, Schaghticoke First Nations and Schaghticoke First Nations, Inc. are two separate entities with separate organizing documents. Our programatic focus is intersectional connecting environmental and racial justice, food sovereignty, human rights advocacy, culture, and education.

Our Purpose

Our organizational purpose is to preserve, promote, and enrich our Indigenous, ancestral heritage, offer guidance to traditionally minded individuals in their search for direction, and provide support to those seeking harmony and a greater understanding of our collective responsibilities as human beings. Through restorative justice initiatives, environmental advocacy and action, as well as educational and cultural programming, we strive to fulfill our original instructions as human beings to be in right relationship with the world around us. Our work moves forward by linking our past, present, and future while strengthening and building community, and embracing the intersectional and intergenerational realities that are challenges or opportunities for social, cultural, economic, and spiritual development.
